Murray Robertson has been illustrating for three years, concentrating on Scottish history where his attention to detail has won praise from historians and academics alike. Personal recommendations have come from The William Wallace Society, The Graham Association, The Andrew Moray Society and most notably from the Scottish Knights Templar. Two of Scotland's leading historic re-enactment groups, Clan Ranald and Fire & Sword have also endorsed the work.
Murray Robertson has illustrated the new book "Travels in Burns Country" for John Cairney which is now available. The Bruce and Wallace images have been approved by the National Trust and will be on sale in the Bannockburn shop from early Spring. The images are created by stippling - thousands of dots with virtually no solid lines being used. Each image took over 24 hours to create Robert the Bruce, King of Scots. The illustration shows the King as he may have appeared before the Battle of bannockburn in 1314. References for the image include the Chroniques de Froissart, the tomb of Bruce in Dunfermline abbey and modern authors such as Ronald McNair Scott. All prints come with a full historic explanation of the character depicted. |
